Educational Programs

Education and Special Events

As an educational institution of the Haines Borough, learning is at the core of the Museum’s mission. The Haines Sheldon Museum offers a wide range of public educational programs throughout the year for children and adults. Public programming includes regular artist’s lectures; children’s camps and workshops; a fundraising run/walk of Haines’ totem poles; art-based fundraisers; the Brown Bag Lunch & Learn (winter lunch-time lectures) series; and participation in Haines’ First Friday, a monthly evening celebrating local art. Check our google calendar for scheduled events.

Homeschool Science Classes 2023

The Sheldon Museum has teamed up with Takshanuk Watershed Council to provide outdoor, hands-on, nature inspired science classes for the homeschool families of the valley this semester. Enough interest was generated in the community that our education team has divided the participating kids into three different classes based on age so that they can get the most out of their time here.
